Hei, sekvensoinnissa käytettävän POP-7 polymeerin tarjoushinta on päättynyt viime vuoden lopussa. Teaching, basics in bioinformatics

Dear all, One additional teacher would be needed for Basics in bioinformatics course (750340A) computer exercises (20 h in the computer class + 3 h seminar). The exercises start on March 7th. The topics cover e.g. similarity searches from the GenBank, pairwise/multiple sequence alignment, constructing phylogenies, gene prediction, i.e. very basic stuff for 2nd year students. In both groups there are also English speaking students. It is possible to teach the same topics for two groups: not so much preparations to do. Does any of our students/post-docs have teaching hours to do? Please, let me know asap. Genetics research seminars

Hi all, The genetics research seminars will begin again on Thursday next week (19.1.) and will continue every Thursday until May 24. The seminars take place on Thursdays at 12.15-13.00 given that there is no Thursday seminar at the same day. I will add the dates and places to the Wiki pages during this week. The genetics seminar is an excellent opportunity to present your research and get feedback in a friendly atmosphere. In addition, it is an opportunity to discuss an article, your research plan, new methodology or some other topic of interest. The purpose is also to share general information regarding the genetics section of our Department. Please let me know by Thursday noon if you wish to present or discuss something on 19.1.
